Particle size Reduction for Hair Colorants
High pressure homogenization is an important process in hair colorant production, enabling the efficient dispersion of colorant powders in an emulsion. Uniform and stable suspension production is guaranteed, thanks to GEA’s homogenizers being able to satisfy the cosmetic industry’s requirements for blend resistant end-products that ensure deep and brilliant colors.
The shear stress and friction generated inside the homogenizing valve enables particle size reduction down to the nanometer scale, resulting in a permanent and homogenous suspension in which color pigment particles are dispersed in a cohesive mixture. GEA recommends a two-stage homogenization process at pressures of 500–1000 bar with 1–2 product passes through the machine.
