"Continuous in-line blending" - what does it mean?

Continuous in-line blending system type DICON-C™ for the production of finished beverages

Continuous in-line blending systems type DICON-C™ are designed for the continuous high-precision mixing of soft drinks. The number of the components to be mixed is not limited. Flow rates from 2 l/h are possible in the concentrate lines.

Liquid flows are measured by accurate flow meters (such as mass flow meters type MDM or electromagnetic flow meters type IZM™) and transmitted to the automatic system controller. 

The digital controller compares the measured values in consideration of the preselected mixing ratios and actuates the controlling devices in such a way that the preset values are exactly kept. Short-termed control deviations are completely compensated. 

Deaerating and test vessels prevent any air occlusions and thus even any potential measuring errors. Apart from that, they permit the cyclical monitoring of the flow meters for the concentrates. Modulating valves and/or positive pumps with frequency converter are used as controlling devices. 

The in-line blending system is followed by the carbonator, type DICAR™, wherein the desired CO2 content is set. Essential product criteria like Brix value and conductivity are determined and monitored on-line in the DICAR™ carbonator. If desired, an automatic correction (e.g. of Brix deviations) can be carried out within the DICON-C™ system, too.

Continuous in-line blending system type DICON-S™ for the production of finished syrup

Continuous in-line blending systems, type DICON-S™, are designed for the continuous high-precision mixing of syrup for soft drinks.

Liquid flows are measured by accurate flow meters (such as mass flow meters. type MDM or electromagnetic flow meters, type IZM™) and transmitted to the automatic system controller. The digital controller compares the measured values in consideration of the preselected mixing ratios and actuates the controlling devices in such a way that the preset values are exactly kept. Short-termed control deviations are completely compensated. The in-line blending system is followed by a small buffer tank. 

Essential product criteria like Brix value and (if necessary) conductivity are determined and monitored in-line. If desired, an automatic correction (e.g. of Brix deviations) can be carried out within the DICON-S™ system, too. Modulating valves and/or positive pumps with frequency converter are used as controlling devices.

Continuous in-line blending system type DICON-T™ - Mobile system

The mobile continuous in-line blending system, type DICON-T™, is designed for the mixing of liquid components.

Users with small or medium mixing volume or often changing target tanks will profit from this system. Its mobile construction allows the system to be quickly and easily moved to the place required. Via hoses, the system is connected with the desired target tank and the sources the recipe stored in the PLC is called-in and the system starts. As there is no need to have a complex pipeline system nor automatic valves with corresponding controlling technology, DICON-T™ is a very economical alternative for the manufacture of mixed products.

Continuous in-line blending system type DIVA™ for alcohol reception and blending

The two basic functions for alcohol reception and continuous in-line blending system DIVA™ are the reception of the raw alcohol from tankers with quantity detection, if desired suitable for Weights & Measures purposes and blending with water to reduce the alcohol content to less than 76 % vol. with the aim of not being subject to the ex-regulations in different areas (ATEX).

The reception part is equipped with an air eliminator. Its task is to separate the air which is also conveyed in the pipeline from the liquid stream. A pump conveys the alcohol from the air eliminator through a mass flow meter to the mixing point. In the mass flow meter the alcohol stream is detected. The water stream is detected, too, and the flow is set by means of a control valve to the required mixing ratio. The alcohol content in the mixture is checked in a metering device.

The officially approved density metering system which is mounted in the outlet of the continuous in-line blending system determines the alcohol content of the alcohol/water mixture. The return of the metered alcohol value to the controller makes a highly accurate setting of the alcohol/water mixture possible. 

The deviation range of the set alcohol/water mixture comes to approx. ±0.05 % vol. of alcohol.  

The system is designed to be mounted in the hazardous area. Just the control is intended to be installed outside the hazardous area. 

The ratio of alcohol and water is controlled in such a way that the alcohol content the operator desires is obtained in the mixture. 

The controller calculates the water mass which is still to be dosed from the existing mass portion of water in the initial alcohol and the demanded mass portion of water in the mixture. Dosing deviations during the start are ‘pulse-accurately‘ detected and compensated.
