On November 1, 2004, Jürg Oleas was appointed CEO of GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft after having served as a member of the Executive Board since joining the group in May 2001.
At Board level, he is responsible for the Business Area Solutions while also heading the regions Germany, Austria, Switzerland (DACH) & Eastern Europe, North and Central Europe as well as Latin America.
Before joining the company, he spent nearly 20 years with ABB and the Alstom Group where he held several management positions.
Jürg Oleas, a Swiss national, was born in Quito, Ecuador, in December 1957. In 1981, he was awarded a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.
Dr. Helmut Schmale is responsible for Finance and has been a member of the Executive Board of GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft since April 1, 2009.
In addition, he heads up the Shared Service Center.
Previously, he held several management positions with GEA over a period of around 16 years. For instance, he served as CFO on the Board of the former Division Energy Technology for 6 years, followed by a 5-year term as President (CEO) of the same division.
Dr. Helmut Schmale was born in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, in November 1956. He earned his degree in business administration and economics from the Ruhr University Bochum in 1982, where he received his PhD in theoretical macroeconomics in 1986.
Markus Hüllmann was appointed to the Executive Board of GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft on April 1, 2013.
He is responsible for the Business Area Equipment and heading the regions Asia Pacific, North America and Western Europe, Middle East & Africa.
Markus Hüllmann joined former Westfalia Separator AG in 1995. Subsequent to various assignments on behalf of GEA Group in Germany and abroad, mainly in the areas of sales and engineering, and after gaining several years of experience as manager of a business unit, he took the helm of the former segment GEA Mechanical Equipment as Segment President in 2010.
Markus Hüllmann was born in Paderborn, Germany, in July 1968. He holds an MBA from Duke University and an engineering degree in dairy technology from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hanover.
Dr. Stephan Petri was appointed to the Executive Board of GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft on June 1, 2012, and is responsible for Human Resources, Legal/Compliance and Internal Audit.
In addition, he also acts as Labor Relations Director.
Prior to that, he held the position of GEA’s Head of Legal, which he had taken up in 2005, while serving as Chief Compliance Officer as of 2006, whereupon he also assumed the role of Head of Other Companies.
Before joining GEA, Dr. Stephan Petri worked as an attorney at an international law firm and in the legal department of Hoechst, prior to holding the position of head of the legal department at Aventis holding.
Dr. Stephan Petri was born in Traben-Trarbach, Germany, in February 1964 and holds dual German-US citizenship. He studied law at the universities of Bonn, Geneva (Switzerland) and Cologne, obtained his PhD on the basis of a doctoral thesis on comparative law, and passed the second state examination in law in 1995.
